I've got a minor steering issue. When making a sharp turn (usually while moving slowly like pulling into a parking spot or making a U turn) there is an occasionaly loud click (or couple of clicks) coming from the front driver's side of the Jeep. I've done some searching here but haven't been able to find anything in particular on it. It is a stock steering setup (i'm assuming Saginaw as it is ahead of the radiator). A friend said it may just need some lube, but I'm suspect and don't want to let itself get worse. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would start easy and check if the tire is touching the springs when you turn sharply. There is a "stop" on the knuckle that you can adjust.

From there you could check the ball joints for wear, but you'll probably have to lift the wheel off the ground so that you can grab it and try to move it in various directions.

Thanks all...hopefully we'll get some decent weather this weekend so I can check these things out. I have a feeling it is something simple as it drives straight with minimal play and its only when I make the slow heavy angled turns. I appreciate the starting points. Thanks again...
