Another Spring thread

    This is related to another thread I had going but different enough to justify a new one.


    Before I reinvent the wheel and or do something not smart :)

    My front springs are way too stiff. The PO added a shackle and spring lift. The springs have rough country painted on them.

    Because Of years of having a hard top that is staying, the front seems to sit a little higher than the rear.

    I would like to take a leaf or two out of the front springs (the little ones) to try to soften it up a little and maybe lower the front a little. Would this be a mistake?


    Also, none of the bump stops were lowered. I bought a big chunk of aluminum to lower them. Would that be a mistake? If not, How do I figure out how much I need to lower them?

    You could remove some of the short leaves to soften it up a bit. You will have to experiment a bit. It may lower the jeep some but sounds like you're trying to level it anyway. Rule of thumb is usually if you lift it 2" space the bump stop 2"
