I have been searching around here and other places looking for rear disk brake swap info. I stumbled onto another nice D30 front axle with new brakes on it. They are the 7/8" thick rotors with the 2 bolt caliper brackets. I may use them on my D30 instead of the 1 1/8" 6 bolt ones on my other D30.

Does anyone know if there is a way to use the 6 bolt D30 big brakes on a D44 rear axle without welding or taking anything to a machine shop?

The backing plates seem to have the same 6 bolt pattern as the front axle so it seems like this would have some possibility. I know I would have to come up with an e-brake solution but that's not a big deal.

I'm going from memory here but it seems like the center hole of the rotor must be machined and the rotor must fit on the back of the axle flange. Again, that's going from memory from a long time ago. Two holes will need to be drilled in the caliper bracket as the rear centered CJ 44 does not have a concentric bolt patter on two of the holes. No big deal there. There may be other issues, but that's all I remember off the top of my head.
