Door Hinge Changes?

I just bought a used glass body and it has no provisions, holes, etc for door hinges. My 78 cj5 & 80 cj7 had external hinges I think?? but that has been 25 years ago. I dont see the external hinges in the pictures of the early jeeps.

Have the door hinges and hinge locations changed over the years 55-74? My windshield is from my 57 and I have no doors or top (starting from scratch) If there are differences, which year would you guys pick for the best/easiest door set up? Assuming I would need to buy the hardware and the doors.

BTW I liked the external hinges on my 78 cj5 & my 80 cj7.

The early jeeps did not come with hinges. The hinges came specific to the hard top you wanted to install. Naturally the soft top doors had no hinges.

 

Once the tub was home, I found that it does have holes in the door openings..for the door frames. They need to be rebuilt, but they are there. My memory is coming back, I believe my 80 cj7 had frame & cloth doors that fit into the hard top / steel door hinges, that were mounted outside the jeep. (that was nice).

 

I have been considering making some plexi-glass half doors that would mount with hinges but not drilled to the outside tub because my 66 Tux is not a molested one.
