Hole at the bottom of the bell housing on a 60 CJ-5?

    Hello all, new to the old jeeps. I am in the process of replacing the transfercase mount and noticed this hole at the bottom of the bell housing. I tried a search but couldn't find anything and wanted to know what this hole is & should it be plugged or have a vent hose. There is not threading on it & yes i have a few leaks right now.....Thanks to all for the help!

    Welcome.

    No plug or hose needed. Military Jeep has a plug in it but then the housing is actively vented for underwater use.
