I got a new light bulb in the license plate light, and the hot wire connected to tail lights that get power when lights are on.

my question is were does the ground wire go, there is one attached to one of the outer screws but i'm not getting anything.

just for reference sorry its not the back

if you suspect a ground problem, to test, take a length of wire and ground/touch to other points on the body/frame; one end to frame/body and the other to the lamp housing.
the tailgate may not be grounding thru the chains or the lower hinges where the tailgate pivots to open. Paint/rust could be the culprit around the lamp fixture as well.

that is what I was trying, I touched to all sorts of things like leaf springs and stuff. You got me thinking I should check to see if the wire is getting power.
I kinda think that my ground is in wrong spot(that is attached to the light itself)
