Good work. Glad you're using that frame. Other than the dude's welds on the spring mounts it's in perfect shape. No twists, bends, cracks.

Hey, if you're gonna toss the cowl/firewall would you mind snapping the bolts off the hood hinge brackets and saving them for me (if you don't have a use for 'em). The hinge brackets on my M-170 are all but worn out and the newer ones are pin type (not open like the M-series and early CJs.

today I started on stripping the frame cutting off what ever I don't need , shock mounts, old hangers, rear tow hitch brace, and started cutting off the Bubba brackets ( thanks heavy iron ,that's a great word for them...) they are putting up quiet a fight , the PO stick welded them all the way around AND drilled holes in them and rotissary welded them .....5 cut off wheel discs today. pic of bubba brackets to come.

question...what is a "bubba bracket"? I had some simular issues with my stock spring hangers on the frame. The PO had gobbed bugger welds on ever inch that he could...by far the hardest part of the build was clearing those out of the way.

these horrible excuses for spring perches ,,,,I love how the PO welded the rear hangers with the bushings still in there ,really!!!! was it just too much work yo pop those suckers out.

fabulous I must say...brings back horrible, tauntin nightmares of me doing the same thing....poor sawzall went through so much. It took me almost 3 weeks, 20-somthing sawzall blades and countless hours of beating and prying to get them off...GOOD LUCK!!! I would just blow them off with a torch if you got one.

Oxy setup with a scarfing tip is the best thing I have found for that stuff.
