I have recently cracked a head on my Dauntless . I have a set of heads on the shelf from a Buick 231. Is this swap possible ? If not can you get after market heads ? Thank you for any comments.

A lot depends on the heads, but the general answer is no due to passage differences. You need to dig into Pat G's book for details on fit and possibilities.

Just to clarify what Warloch said, he was referring to Pat Ganahl who wrote a book specifically on GM V-6 engines back in the 80's. Tons of good info on the Buick V-6. Not in print iirc but they show up on E-pay, Amazon.com, etc.

According to the book mentioned above: " From 1961 through 1976 the Buick V-6 used the same cylinder head,.........." So, an odd fire 231 head should fit. Problems arise when trying to use the later even fire heads on an odd fire engine.

Yup - I just can never get Pat's last name right unless I have it in front of me (which I didn't).

Thanks to everyone for the info. I'll try to get some info on cast numbers to find out what year model the heads I have are.
