    I actually saw that...
But where does it connect to? (Heat source)

I guess the better question is how else can it be hooked up other than the stock port on the manifold.

There used to be a "choke stove kit" that the auto parts stores carried. That is what I used until I converted to electric .Very happy with electric choke.

Reading through the info, it appears another option is through the water (coolant) system.

I bought a 12v electric conversion kit from Ebay seller to convert 2GC from auto choke to electric. Only thing needed is a ign. on 12v source .The carb came from a '68 jeepster that had 2GC carb. 2 or 3 pumps on the gas pedal and fires up with fast idle and no dying . works great. This is on my '69 dauntless. The '71 Renegade has to stay stock so manual choke on that one.

I converted a hot air choke to electric on a 2GC years ago. If I recall, I just bought a choke thermostat for an early 80's Monte Carlo and installed in in the hot air casting..

Anybody have a good description, picture or otherwise, of how the choke tube attaches to the manifold? How far does it go into the manifold? Is it attached in anyway? I’m kinda set on making it work

Save yourself some headache and do what Patrick said...all you need is an electric choke cap off a later model 2GC carb and a 12V power source (DONT use the ignition coil)
CJ's all were manual choke so if you have stock manifolds I'm not even sure they have provision for a choke tube...

I can respect your desire to use the stock application. It seems you have the correct exh. manifold with the tube(hole) for inserting the choke heater tube into and a 2GC carb w/ hot air choke. so you need the tube and insulation that's available from Dorman to go from carb to manif. that is routed down from choke housing and then rear along top intake manif. and around rear of cylinder head and forward into exh. manifold. Clear as mud .there is not a actual attachment for the tube to the manifold IIRC. The jeepster guys will be more helpful on this subject as there engines came with this style choke.

anybody know how the pipe connected to the manifold and what the inside of the manifold looks like?

can the old tube be driven out from the front side? ill try and get some pictures up of what im talking about if tis as clear as mud..

Just a piece of tube stuck into the manifold tube about an inch. I believe all of the passenger side CJ manifolds had the tube also.

Yep, it just sticks into a pocket on the manifold. The 258 is the same way. Its purpose is to pick up heated air from around the outside of the manifold.

The Dorman kit comes with a small wad of glass wool to wrap around the end of the tubing, providing a filter. The Dorman kit should work fine for this purpose.
