I just come across an early CJ5 frame with a 225 V6 no trans or x case. It has narrow axles offset rearend and Selecto front hubs, Ross steering, no brake pedals and no tub

The motor is painted a faded red or orange, it has the air cleaner which is also painted the same. The valve covers and air cleaner have the Dauntless 225 stickers on them.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction as to what it came from?

The engine? I'd assume it came from a Jeep.... Probably the frame it's in. Someone painted it...
    Unless I'm missing the question...

The engine was just repainted somewhere along the line.
Chevy small block guys think everything is suppose to be orange for some reason.

Detroit Diesel alpine green is a close match to stock if that's what you're after but someone on here did a bunch of research and found one that is an exact or almost exact match to stock. Might do a search or maybe someon will chime in....

Red is not a stock Jeep color for a 225 like the above has said.

If I have been paying attention well enough, you are talking about what color to paint your Dauntless??? And I think I learned that Chevy orange is not the color of choice, although it is a GM motor. My son doesn't want that color either. You are saying that Detroit Diesel Alpine green is a stock color? What the heck does diesel and green look like!!R) We are at the same point. Can you give us some color chips to look at? :)

Re: Help Identify 225 V6 Color/$300 buys it

Thanks all for your input on the color. Now I will ask if it is worth $300?
That comes with a rolling frame, axles, running motor, and a radiator attached to the grill, fenders, hood.
Mind you I have not heard it run yet and it looks like it has been sitting out in a field for the past 20 years.

If the engine seems ok, and you need an engine and the other parts, then $300 seems like a good value. If you don't need the stuff, then it depends on how much space you have and how much spending money you have.

I'd look at the axles - if the axles are 4.88 ratio, I'd buy it on spec even if I didn't need the other parts. Also check if the rear has a Powerlock - they are a fairly common accessory, and worth having.

I'm saying Detroit Diesel green, the color they painted Detroit Diesel engines is a close match. It is NOT a stock Jeep color but was a color I found at FLAPS that was pretty close. Painted the Race Jeep 225 with it. When I parted the motor other members on here who received said parts thought it was the original paint.

I don't have color chips. I walked into the parts house with one of my parts that had original paint still on it. Might try a search as someone did a lot of research trying to match the exact color and I believe they were successful. Don't remember who it was though. They even posted sample pics of the colors.
