I'm cleaning out a bunch of stuff at my fathers and I have a 225 Dauntless I pulled out of a CJ5. I'm keeping the bellhousing, adapter and T-86. The engine is froze. Any recommendations on what parts I should keep? I would love to build a 225 powered flatty down the road so some parts might be useful but not sure which ones.

The whole thing. Disassemble it and see what it needs.

X3. I'd love to have another 225 for parts. You never know what part you may need. It may even be re-buildable.

Yep, what they said. I have a spare 225, and wouldn't think of selling it unless someone offered way more than it's worth. :D

That is why I have 3 225's and 2 231s on stands in my shop. If I find one in buildable shape for a good price, I pick it up so that I have 1 more engine than projects.

Yah I'm currently up to extra 3 Hurricanes (1 froze) and 2 Dauntless (1 froze).
I have to walk sideways to get past them everytime I open the garage door.
I keep smacking my knees on them (OUCH) but they aren't going to the melting pot if I get my way. :D

PB Belly: I'll be coming through Rolla in a couple weeks to pick up that 231.

No. The 225 being a Jeep engine doesn't help you much - swapping to the 225 is slightly easier than swapping in a Chevy V6, only because the distributor is in the front. You can use some Jeep factory parts, like the frame towers, but you'd have to find a CJ-5 donor Jeep.

To answer the OP, save the front cover and balancer/pulleys. If dipstick is good, also the oil pan and valve covers. Not a bad idea to follow Patrick's advice to tear it down and see what is bad. If it has an Hei then grab the distributor also.

It has a 2 Bbl intake on it and points distributor. I hauled 5 258's, 2 360's and an odd ball Ford FE engine to the scrappers today. 3500 lbs. $335. The Jeep gods will be angry with me...
