Grill to heater hose question

I need to replace the grill to heater hose on my 67 225 v6. Looks like a dryer hose. It is has lasted 46 years but it is time. Heater is origianl and has always worked. The only company I have found who has them is Walcks and they look pre cut to size and should be a direct replacement. Anyone buy this item before and is there an option I should look at?
    Thank you,

    Peter

Try JC Whitney. Walck's may also be able to help.

I've seen folks use aluminum 'bendy' dryer vent (not OEM certainly), with some black paint or powder coat it'd likely look pretty swell. (i'd put it in place, then keep the bends and paint if it were me).

    Did you look at http://www.ducting.com

They have industrial hoses of all sizes. Some have temp and chem ratings... some pretty darn close in appearance to the cloth/wire piece I rescued from mine. At issue is the minimum length which is like 25'. I was going to call when ready to see if they had any 'remnants'.

edit: So I just sent an email to them. waiting to hear back. be great if we could get a 'kit' deal where we make up several, including the heater to defrost hoses, etc.
    - there's a cool looking nomex/fiberglass/springwire hose that looks the part, but at $38/ft it's off my list. I'm looking at the neoprene and fabric /wire hose which is more like $10/ft.
    - I think the hoses I've seen at Walcks' and JCWhitney, etc. run roughly that price (6ft at $10/ft).

Google: Vintage Air or Old Air Products...........both of these folks sell vintage accessories and replacement heater / AC items for the Vintage car market............give them a call.

Walck's has it, but not cheap.

    McMaster-Carr is another possible source.

I bought the duct from Walck's, and found that it was difficult to attach at the grill, and was barely long enough to reach the heater. I replaced it with a piece of round flexible (semi-rigid) duct and a plastic 45 degree angle, both purchased at Lowes (the heating and cooling duct dept.). I painted both black. I attached the 45 degree angle to the grill with 1 sheet metal screw, and because the duct was about 1/2" smaller than the opening at the front of the heater, I wrapped black duct taper around the circumference of the duct until it fit snugly into the heater opening. The duct is rigid and durable. I have used it for the past 4 years with great results.

Dryer vent hose in mine. I dont have a heater. I just run it through the firewood for cool air down by the pedals. The fit at the grill isn't the best but it works. Some day I'll fab up some sheetmetal for a better fit.

Thank you all for great feedback. All good options. $38 for the Walcks hose is a bit expensive but it may be the best fit. The custom Lowes hose looks nice. I appreciate the replies and input.

    Thank you.

perhaps a PVC adapter, or perhaps putting the hose INSIDE the grille/heater box opening rather than outside them.

Consider both the I.D. and the O.D. of hose and grille/heater box openings as options for making it fit.
