hi, i just installed a holley 2 barrel (used) which i rebuilt , can anyone tell me where to initinally set the air/fuel mixture screws at, i set them at what the previous settings were 1-1/2 out but now as was with the motorcraft carb is really cold blooded can't drive it yet as i'm putting power brakes on it, isn't quite complete (no money) have to keep choke on (manual) half to keep running for at least 15 min. at 80% temp unless i turn idle screw way up , motor is rebuilt 72 304 and had this same problem before rebuild carb came off a 304 any thoughts or sollutions whould be greatly app. thanks also do i turn the screws in or out for more fuel.

Choke is to increase fuel amount through the carb. The richer ratio created by the choke can mask several problems such as vacuum leaks, low pressure from the fuel pump and insufficient fuel pump volume. Partially plugged filter, collapsed or restricted fuel lines, etc. Have you ever had this engine running good?
