Well first, I like the patina just the way it is...but I HATE rust and there's no shortage of it in the floors and drivers side panel below the cowl. I may just rattle can the replaced areas close as possible and clear coat the whole body. I want it to show its age but also prevent future rust.

Mechanically, I plan only a slight departure from stock. Mostly safety upgrades (dual master with remote reservoir, 11" brakes and seat belts). Perhaps a swing out spare tire carrier.

There's a lot to do. I have limited funds and not a whole lot of time. Oh, my build thread is here; http://www.earlycj5.net/forums/showthread.php?89193-63-CJ6-Perkins-Rebuild&highlight=perkins

Wow, that's one nice looking tub there.:drool: Not much work!

From what I see, only the driver's side lower firewall has been damaged (cut up by bubba?). Maybe that's a good thing if you're running headers.

I also had similar cuts. Got a replacement panel from g503.com -ask Rommel here if you have questions about the panel.

Like rings in a tree, can the age of a Jeep be determined by the calico-osity of the paint?

Well I'm here stuck at work, the plant is down, so I had some time to read compostwerks thread, and I have to give serious props out to it. That was great, doing a lot more than I plan on doing to mine. I so feel for you guys up north with the cold weather, I don't have to worry about hard tops, although I wouldn't mine having one, but definitely not needed.
looking forward to any updates on your build compostwerks!
