500 smackers.....planned on offering 400 till I saw the brake lines and v6....only saw the new suspension on Craigslist.

Plus the guy was in his mid 80s and super friendly, and used his little front end loader to push it around and on the dolly, so well worth the 500....he said he was too old to finish it and wanted a cj3 like used to be in the family anyways

Plus a 4 hr round trip drive with a tow dolly, lunch and supper for the wife and I, and $40 in gas, $42 to rent the dolly

    All well, well worth it!!!

Wouldn't the brakes be larger, either 10" or 11" drums?

A '70 will have 10" brakes. You can see they are not 11" brakes from the picture of the wheel - too much daylight around the drum.

The 10" brakes will be an upgrade from the 9" brakes on the '55. However, it's a mixed bag because parts are hard to source and not cheap for the 10" brakes, so you'd probably be better off with 11" or disk upgrade if these 10" brakes are not in good shape. One option would be to use the 10" brakes on the rears (combining the best of what you have) and install disks on the front.

Note the '70 has a dual reservoir master cylinder too - another bolt-in upgrade.

Woohoo - aftermarket wiring harness. They even coiled up the extra wire... a nice bonus.

It's got all new drums so I assume the shoes and springs inside are as well, although the wheel cylinders look kinda crusty from the back

It's like Christmas the more I tear this thing down with all the extra goodies I keep finding!!

Probably to offset this the engine block will be cracked or something lol that's my usual run of luck anyhow!
