Prestolite or Duraspark??

    I have a 1975 CJ5 with a 285. I'm looking at the TFI & HEI ignition upgrades. I thinking which ever one I do will depend on what is in the Jeep know. If I have to replace the Dist. anyway I might go with the HEI.
    If I already have the Duraspark I might just go with the TFI.

    If it's stock, a '75 will be Prestolite. Look for a (white?) plastic vacuum advance on the side of the distributor - I think that's the easiest ID.

    Davis Unified Ignition with plugs gapped to 0.050".

    Hedgeclippers to remove all the excess crap that you don't need.

    You don't need to know anything else.
