sm465 to buick

I have a friend wanting to put the sm465 in his dauntless powered jeep. I still have the origional bellhousing and was trying to find out if it has the same bolt pattern as my bellhousing. My bellhousing had the t86 gearbox w/adapter.As far as it fitting his engine I know if hs the same pattern, just not sure about the gearbox side of it. I dont have the bellhousing right here to look at.Thanks for the help

 

I just cant believe nobody here has put a sm465 behind a dauntless. Any info

Somebody here has done this swap - maybe they're offline for now. I don't think there's much to say though. GM transmission bolts up to a GM bellhousing. Buy the kit to adapt to the transfer case, some assembly, and you're done.

 

You should be able to reuse your original bellhousing if you have the hole for the input bearing retainer on your bellhousing machined to match the transmission. For a 465 it should be 5.125" in diameter.

 

I did more research and learned that the bellhousing has to ba machined to 5 inches and the retainer has to be turned down a little. I guess most of you knew this, but I am just posting the info in case it helps someone else out.
