    Hey All,

Check my math here please...Keep in mind that I have some tire rub when crossed up now. Currently running 29x7 inch tires on 15" stock wheels

I'm definately going with BFG MT 30x9.5. Can't justify going bigger for my trail needs. If I stick with the stock rims, I'll lose about 1.25" of clearance when articulated due to the extra width of the tire. I can gain this 1.25" back with a set of these in the 15x8's and a 2.5" backspacing. (Stock backspacing is 3.75") This of couse puts more tire outward, but only about 1.25" more than without, so I don't *think* I'll be stressing the axles a whole lot more.

    So here's the questions...

Is this valid thinking to keep rub to a minimum, or at least to where it is now?
Any problems with a 9.5" tire on an 8" rim?
Will that extra 2.5" of tire sticking outward cause any troubles/too much stress?

Getting ready to pull the trigger on this, just got to know what I'm aiming for first!

    TIA

My $0.02 -- Turn the bumpstops out front and just live with the rub in the back...little bit of scuffed paint never hurt no one.

For my tastes that's not enough tire for a 8" wheel - easier to lose a bead when aired down.

I'd also be concerned with the outside edge of the tire hitting the fender/fender flare when crossed up - moreso than stressing the axle.

I agree with Boyink on the tire/rim issue. IMHO, 15x8 rims with a 30x9.50R15 would not be a good combo. 15x7 rims would help reduce the possibility of poping the tire off the bead.

    I agree, for 9.50's, I'd stick with a 7" wheel...
