Not yet, but now that I know about it I am going to order some.

I went ahead and ordered a couple of tubes to see if I like it.

You could look at it that way, but the two bucks worth of "knuckle pudding" I had in a plastic tub got knocked off the shelf, hit the floor hard enough to bust the container and spread a greasy mess all over the floor, and a new sheet of 3/4" marine plywood I had just paid $160 for. And to fill my knuckles I had to suction the stuff into a grease gun and then pump it into the knuckle. For $12 a tube I can use a caulk gun and be done in a few minutes.

True, there is the convenience factor.
The issue is I'm such a cheapskate when it comes to these things.
I'd rather risk making a mess and ruin expensive items than pony an additional 11 bucks up front.....

That price is about on Par, if not a bit more expensive than Cornhead grease. I'd be fine with paying that for it, just for the smaller likelihood of making a mess, and not having to deal with making knuckle pudding. (Hence the reason my 27 has knuckles full of cornhead grease.)

The caulk tube seems a positive characteristic. I'm sure the TSM has the volume of lube you're supposed to put in there. One tube per side?

Does anyone "drain" and change this lube? I expect the lube always goes into an empty knuckle, after you finish going through them.

Ah, that's the place in Montana. They have a lot of parts for the NP transfer cases and later axles, as I recall. An address for your Rolodex.

I’ve used the black/gray molydisulphide (CV joint) lube for decades in my closed knuckles. VW parts houses sell it in convenient squeeze tubes, so I think more convenient that a calking cartridge. I usually bought the Empi brand because it was cheaper than Lobro.

The CV joint lube is probably a good choice.

I think "Cornhead grease" is very good for what it is designed for, but I wouldn't use it in steering knuckles or steering gears. It is great for things than need sticky "grease" rather than gear lube that will flow.

Flows just fine for me, you pull the cap off the end of the tube a 32°F and it will still flow out of the tube just fine, in my experience (At least the stuff with the jumping deer on the label), and if you've got enough heat in your front axle that you're concerned about it burning up, you've got bigger issues than your grease.
