The earlier timing covers didn't have that bolt, so maybe there is no threaded hole in the block at that spot if that is a newer cover on an early dauntless?

Just match the front! My bumpers are centered on the frame - but the body isn't centered on the frame, so they look off. Or maybe the frame isn't square.....
Oh...the correct answer is whatever Cynthia says

Yours and mine looked similar. I wish I'd thought up something like the hook for that too... I used a bottle jack from HF first, then when it stopped working on it's side, I built a rotisserie out of two old engine stands I'd collected for that. Now I have a proper set of hydraulic tools for mashing dents from the inside out...

As to that hole... mine had similar bondo armor.

I cleaned up, pressed out, then proceeded to use about a full spool of mig wire to lay it in there (I guess similar to the old leading process for body work?). Once I had enough mig wire in there, I would put a magnetic level across it, and grind until I was close. then I'd lay in some more mig wire... grind toward level.

Finally got it to where a thin skim coat cleaned it up. I should have just cut it out like yours.
