So, I've spent about an hour researching this Holley system. It's clear it's designed for the Rochester 2GC small bore manifolds. A large bore kit is also available.
This DOES require an O2 sensor. 199r11366.pdf (holley.com)
However, only BJs singles out the odd-fire engine application.
No other site: not Summit, not Speedway, nor even Holley specifies an odd-fire application.
This is the full document of info from manufacturer.
Holley Sniper EFI 550-866 Holley Sniper EFI 2GC Small Bore - Classic Gold
I think BJs may be shortcutting something like tach signal. And since BJs says they're a FULL-SIZE Jeep parts supplier, it's no surprise they've goofed with this FI kit for smaller vehicles.

Direct from Holley " won't work on odd fire engines" have spoke with them directly ( regarding large bore 2gc for my of231). They will provide instructions on how to add a crank trigger into the wiring harness. Will not be providing tech support however if it doesn't work.

No tech support seems a little lame. They won't get my money and still don't like the fact that the computer is integrated where it can
receive the most heat available. A carb is more likely to be able to limp home.

None of the aftermarket EFI systems support off-fire engines with a signal straight from the distributor (with the exception of roll-your-own MegaSquirt stuff). A crank trigger will be required. Luckily, it's almost trivial to make a crank trigger for the 225 since they have 3 evenly spaced holes around the crank pulley and a nearby fuel pump mounting pad that needs to be blocked off anyway. There are several threads about this on the forum and many fourm members have great running engines once the crank trigger is in place.

The background of this is that all of the EFI systems are expecting even pulse signals from the distributor. When you put them on an odd-fire 225, it is seeing a pulses every 90-150-90-150-90-150 degres when it is expecting them to come it at every 120 degrees. This causes the ECU to think the engine is speeding up and slowing down three times per revolution. This causes two problems. One is that the fueling table is based on load vs RPM and it's think the RPM is constantly moving up and down the fuel table when it actually isn't. The other is that the ECU is trying to control the idle RPM to a target value but it can't because it thinks the RPM is moving up and down when it isn't. The engine will probably run fine at higher speeds but it will never have good idle and fuel control at low RPM.

I would he highly suspicious of the BJ kit since they don't memtion anything about including a crank trigger.

Though there are those - like me - who have had great success with things like the EZ-EFI with the HEI signal. My neighbor is also doing very well with the Summit Kit the same way.

An even pulse signal from a crank sensor is much easier now days than when folks like me started this journey. I would recommend that as a path for any first resolutions for issues and as a MUST with Holley systems based on my experience.

This goes all the way back to when Powerjection was the first player on the 'learning' systems widely available.
