First, get a good Chilton's manual or wiring diagram. There was something odd with the wiring on '74's and how the left/right and/or front/rear turn signals tied into the emergency flashers. You may run into the same problem when trying to tie in a 4-pin towing adaptor.

Between remanufacturing and AMC, you'll find many size lines, some dissimilar, I've made copper brake lines (a NONO) and even had to tap stock lines into larger adapters to fit the master cylinder.

The OEM lights had a single 1157 bulb (brake & indicator on the bright filament, running lights on the other). The backups were a separate light. OEM style is hard to find today; no suppliers AFAIK, so almost every Jeep with those lights has been changed to the later-model square lights or aftermarket style (trailer lights).

  5. I've found stock tail lights for 75 and earlier in a couple of places, one is escaping me right now but restore4x4.com carries them and also milehighjeeprebuilders.com can get them.

Restore has been cheaper on most parts that I've been looking for than most other places. The taillights there are only 9 bucks each and thats a little cheaper than the newer square style ones.

ahh thnx alot but i tried running both the signal and brake light on the bright one together and i dont think i worked seein that i did that a couple weeks ago. but i finally got brakes yesterday and i was soo happy i could drive it. i went 4 wheelin today, do those buick v6 motors have to idle high like i read in my chilton manual? it said like 1800 rpm after it stall when i was drivin it down the road i adjusted the idle and with it in 4 wheel low it was climbin and rompin threw mud and such so i left it like that. also the steering wheel when turned in the road wants to fly back when its in 4 wheel, so it startted turnin in the opposite direction so im guessin theres nothin out of the normal with that right? ya im real happy with it and some good wheelin with it commin just got to get inspectable. ill have to figure out something for the flashers, thanx for the help
