Have any of you guys used a luk clutch, and if so what are your thoughts? I know centerforce has a good name but they are spendy.I've got a 68 cj5 with stock 225 dauntless. Any input on this or any other brands would be helpful. thanks

Any will work. Just make dern sure what goes in matches EXACTLY the dimensions of what came out. Including p.plate, clutch disk, pilot bearing, and t.o. bearing. You may have to make some measurments, but those are quick compared to many of us that have discovered probs with fittment looooong after everything's installed. :D

Prolly not the answer you were looking for, but HTH.

I know a few people here are running the Luk clutch. IIRC they were happy with it. I just got whatever brand my local NAPA caries, mainly because it was convenient to order it that way. I haven't had any problems with it.

I put the LUK Gold KIT in my YJ. Very nice. The GOLD is supposed to be the offroad/truck clutch. It was a diaphragm and slightly heavier than stock. Good prices here http://www.dialaclutch.com/progoldstorecont.htm .

The amazing thing is their customer service called a week later to see how I was doing...........8)

Any more comments on this? I am trying to find a good clutch disk for behind my V6 because in 4 low, when I really get on it trying to drag something I get massive clutch slip. The disk is good as I just had it out last spring and it didn't really look like it had much wear, but the engine overpowers it too easily for my taste.

I went with Centerforce clutch and throw out bearing. It appears to be a very good clutch but like they said watch the measurements. I have had a lot of trouble getting this adjusted properly and I have a feeling I may have to pull it apart again and try a different sized TO bearing.

I am running a LUK with my 225 - SM465 setup. No issues. Do a search as I have posted the chevy and jeep parts numbers and pics of the diff between them.

My local Pep Boys currently has an in-store sale on Luk clutch kits from $79.95. May be worth checking out.

No Pep Boys around here... the one we had went out of business because they were absolutely terrible. I will look at Luk when I get one though, sounds like a good clutch. Are they direct replacement per application or do you have to specify spline count and diameter?

I installed a LUK clutch last year in my 3-B that has a 225 and T-86 and am very happy with it. I priced it out at various internet sources and then went around locally to see what I could find. Ended up getting it from Autozone for about $10 more than online. I felt that if I had any problems that it would be easyer to deal with it locally. The only thing I had to get seperatly was the pilot bushing ,it didnt come with the kit as advertised. I whined to the store manager about it and got the bushing off the shelf ( in stock ) at no charge. Everything was a direct replacement.

Watch out with the Centerforce clutches. I couldn't get mine to work and I've seen posts here from other people who had a lot of problems with them not releasing. I went to NAPA and got one that works fine.
