What is the advantage of the twin stick? :? When I got my 71 ,it had one the guy threw in with the sale. The PO bought it to get the front drive shaft. Thanks Eddy

    More shifters. R)

If the interlock pill is still in place not much.

If it's out you gain 2WD low.

The best part (for me anyway) is they are much easier to reach than the original single "way up under the dash" stick....
    Oh, and more shifters...:D

    More shifters.
Oh, and using low range in 2WD is pretty cool too after removing the interlock “pill”.

So what is the interlock pill? It sounds like there is not to many advantages to the twin stick so far. I do agree the shifter is to far under the dash though.

Getting rid of the goofy single stick linkage is an advantage - the twin sticks are very direct and shift better.

Note - one thing I didn't think of when I swapped to twin sticks is that the pass. seat hits the shifters now when it is tilted forward. In my case it's due to the sm420 swap causing the shifters to be back further than normal.

2wd Low range is really nice when you have a locked front end and you want to make a tight turn in low range.

It's also cool for giving the kids rides around the block in low range with out the wear and tear of being in 4wd drive on asphalt.

    More shifters is cool.

More shifters is always better. Heck with most Jeepers if they could find a use for 32 shifters I think would want 32.

    advantage: more shifters

one stick is high and low range, the other is in and out of 4wd.

If you want to see and drive a dual stick without the pill and an overdrive and 3.73 gearing, stop by I live in Lynnhaven.:v6:

Did I mention I have brakes now???:)

    An old joke.

found an old drill press in an old falling down shed in the back of a drydock company's property. asked the foreman if I could use his machine shop. he couldn't figure out what I was talking about. well we went in there and had to hammer some parts back together with a pipe wrench and had an old dusty light bulb swingin over our heads, but we managed to cross drill 2 hydraulic steering rams for locking pins. we got them about as close to center as the eye can see. while we were working, my buddy starts in with "on today's episode of the stone age machine shop"

anyway, it is a pretty good description of what my shop has been reduced to this year...

More shifters is also a theft deterrent.:) A thief gets in there and doesn't know what they're all for, so he moves on. I've got six shifters, so in theory I should be all but impervious to theft.R)

One shifter is 2wd-N-4wd, the other is high-low. Not that I'm an expert or anything, I just learned myself. I also hear it's helpful in running a PTO.

In my case I think the number of shifters helped the price. The previous owner thought only front wheel drive was working, the extra shifters confused him.
