frozen clutch ??

    Anybody ever unstuck a clutch without pulling the tranny ?? The 68ish CJ 5 I just I brought home last night has been sitting in the woods for unknown # of years.... the clutch won't dis-engage from the pressure plate... any tricks ??

    You can try putting it in low range, push the clutch in, hold the brakes, and try starting it....In gear, of course..

    i tied mine off to a tree, had someone press the clutch, and gave it a shove going downhill....

    I'll have to try this after I get my carb rebuilt and a decent battery..... I tried it tonight with no carb and a shot battery.... if I stood on the brakes it just stopped the motor or spun the tires on the smooth cement floor.....

    I used the old push the bigarzz tree trick. It might work for you but with many years of water in there I would tear it down after the tree trick.

    Sorry, but I have to admit that I'd love to be in your position.... You know, bringing an old Jeep back to life....

    Yeah it should be pretty neat.... I had a Yj that I built all up and beat to death at Paragon and RC , it was mint when I got it and destoyed when I got rid of it... wanna do the opposite with the CJ , I'm gonna wheel it a little but I really want to restore it some and give it a good life !!!

    You can wheel an old CJ pretty good without destroying it, Mine is an example....... Enjoy your JEEP.....
