    So how bad is this?

I just noticed it two days ago. Coulda been like that since I've had the Jeep for all I know. I've not had it off-road at all yet twisting up the frame and tub.

Fixable? Bodyshop or should I try it? I'm gonna put bedliner inside the tub next summer I hope so if it ain't pretty it won't matter.

Picture isn't the greatest and the camera batts are charging. The head of the bolt and the washer are below the floor of the tub and shifted around a little bit. :(

Hard to tell from the pic sparky. Is it cracked around the bolt / washer? If so, no biggie. I'm sure you could do it ;)

Not cracked like spider webbed but it just kinda chewed the edge of the hole enlarging it as it went it looks like.

I'll get a better pic tomorrow if it'll help.

What about mebbe putting a piece of angle under the body, cradling the bottom edge of the wheelhouse/bed floor junction? That would greatly improve the floor strength and solve the problem with the bolts pulling through. Then you could 'glass the inside up before lining with the Durabak.

Angle iron won't go under the body there. I could possibly put a plate under it. Angle iron IN the Jeep OTOH might work.

I thought about putting plates on top of all the bolts rather than just the washers there now just to spread out the force more. But wondered if corners would be worse than a circle?

Radius the corners and sharp edges with a grinder.

Small washers. I'm thinking that the stresses just didn't get spread out across enough surface area and it pulled the bolts through the tub when the frame flexed and the body didn't.

Plates would work better but you could try fender washers, you should be able to find fender washers in 2-2½" in diameter at a good hardware store.

    Sparky,

How big was the body mount bushing under it? If you can spead that area out to say 2 1/2 to 3" then the fenderwasher top side to spread out the fastened area.

As for the fiber repair, send me your address by PM and I'll send you the rest of my resin and fiberglass cloth to fix it. I could also cut (hole saw) you some circles from 50 or 100 thousands aluminum if needed for under side just tell me size you want.

I sold a cheap fiber 2A tub last year on ebay that the tub floor was separating from the sides. You paint an area let it sit a few seconds then work the cloth down into the resin. Painted another layer over that. When it dried it was rock hard. a little sanding to level and spray in your liner.

I used 3 inch washers for my mounts. they really do need alot of surface area to hold to. does yours have the wood between the fiberglass layers or the poly peices? mine is wood and it gives a bit and this is why I did the big washers.

I am guessing the poly ones dont give as much so they may be able to use smaller but I still wouldnt trust anything less than 2 inch of surface holding on the fiberglass.

I don't know who even made the tub. Thinking it's wood in between though.

    Sparky,

Package started and ready to inset the aluminum disks (size and quanity?)

Need anything else in aluminum that would fit in the Priority "shirt box"? I have a stomp shear and brake at work where I'll be cutting the disks.

Make sure that after you make the repair and go to put the bolt back thru, that you put a large rubber body mount "donut" between the metal washer and the glass(on the top side). This will help to absorb flexing and twisting and keep it from cracking. All my mounts are done this way.
