A while back someone posted a link to a place that made hard tops for Early CJ's. They were very pricey. I'm trying to find a link to get a price for a replacement hard top for my CJ.

    Anyone remember who that was?

I'm pretty sure that Bestop makes replacement hard tops for the newer stuff...

    Check 4WD Hardware.

Since the 1/2 doors that I've been wanting for a YJ will fit my CJ7 does that mean that maybe the hard top for YJ will fit my CJ7? If so then I'll just buy a hard top and 1/2 doors for a YJ. That would actually be a two piece door wouldn't it?

Yes, the YJ HT will fit, but you have to do something funky with the tailgate.

1/2 doors won't work with a hard top. Corners are different shapes, 1/2 doors square, full doors rounded, hard top rounded.

John I'd get a factory list price from a Jeep dealership for replacement. If I was getting a price for insurance purposes. You see them for sale from anywhere $200 to $1200 and up. I sold one recently for $400 w/doors.

Been trying to get in touch with AJs. They have what appears to be a CJ7 top with a 2 piece door. The lower 1/2 looks like a YJ door but the upper part seems like it makes a full CJ door. All their numbers are disconnected. Wondering if they've gone out of business. Anyone know for sure?

Adam, take a look @ Rally's home page. Then from here select "Installation". I can't really tell if the jeep they're describing is a YJ or CJ, but there is one pick of the rear and I can clearly see that the tailgate opens to the side.

Look @ the doors. The windows slide front to rear like I was describing the other day, which is what I want. The doors are 1/2 doors....2 piece. Does it look like to you that they're selling the doors as well as the top...???? or are they just selling the top?

Well that was pretty stupid of me now wasn't it?

I did my own internet search and found this page
    http://www.rallytops.com/?src=overture

Here's the CJ7 part of it
    http://www.rallytops.com/jeep/cj7.html

    And here's the installation part
    http://www.rallytops.com/jeep/jeep_ins.html

I just wanted you to look at the doors on the one shown in the installation part. I think it's a YJ that they're showing in the pics. This would explain the lower 1/2 door. But the upper part of the door seems to convert a 1/2 door for a YJ into a full door for a CJ.

I also was trying to figure out if these people were selling just the hard top or if they sold the doors along with the top.

OK, I just got off the phone with the guy. Not sure if he really knows what my question is, but before his cell phone dropped me, here's what I think I heard him say. I think he said that YJ hard top would fit my jeep and he could sell me a YJ hard top and the upper 1/2 of the doors shown in the pic. Then I could pick up a set of YJ 1/2 doors and I'd be in business. Did I hear him correctly? Will a YJ hard top fit my CJ7?

    Oh, yeah, that'll work.

Like I said above, YJ tops will work on CJ-7's. Just hafta deal with the liftgate/tailgate. YJ tailgates go over the liftgate, CJ-7 tailgates went under the liftgate.

I can't remember. It's not impossible. People swap 'em around all the time.

Well that's just cool as a cucumer. I'll have a hard to with two piece doors...upper and lower. I can run the YJ 1/2 doors in the summer and still close up tight in the winter and I'll eliminate my problem of having to open my doors to roll down the windows (my rollers hit my front tube)
