Looking for info on what should be a stock dash layout. Plain old jeep with no options. I am just starting to gather all the info to restore my Fathers old hunting buggy to stock.

    Here's my 61:

Right of speedo - top is light switch
below it is the ignition - right of that is cigar lighter
Left of speedo - top is choke
below it (can't see in this photo) is hand throttle

Disregard the two holes left of steering column; those were my back-up light and electric wiper switches.

For a stock dash, that's about it, except for the heater controls, which hang below the dash just right of the column.

    Anything else?

    Welcome from SW OR!!

Whats the purpose of the hand throttle? When would one use it? Is there a PTO? That is the only thing I can think of..

Yes the hand throttle helped control PTO accessories, welders for example. Also, I don't think that cigar lighter is factory original.

Mine is missing the hand throttle. I was thninking of replacing it to help it warm up in the morning instead of totally relying on the choke.

What's the benefit of using the throttle vs the choke?

Here's a '62 dash layout. I believe the lighter is stock. I think the throttle control allows warm-up without running the engine fuel mixture too lean (choke). I can get a close-up if you need.

Choke would make it too rich, not too lean. I don't know offhand if the YF has a fast idle cam on the choke, I know my Harley carb does and I can warm it up by just barely closing the choke a tiny bit. The cam opens the throttle just a skosh and increases the idle without making the mixture richer.

That JEEP does look like it's in great shape, except for the bullet holes of course. But hey, that's Texas for ya.

I dunno if the cigar lighter was "factory" or not, but the PO's name was some dude named "Willy's"............... I think he put it there. Heh-heh.
