I want to hack up a hood to put in some louvers to cool down the engine bay. I've wrapped the exhaust and installed a new radiator but the 360 tucked inside my fiberglass body just gets too hot when wheeling at altitude when the outside temp is toasty. A local guy is offering up a hood from a 63 or 68, but I'm not sure it would fit on my 74. Anyone know if it would work?

I think the early hoods are shorter. The engine compartment was lengthened in '72 to accomodate the straight 6 engine. Maybe ask him to give you a measurement on it. But I don't think it'll work.

Nope. Needs to be a hood from '72 or later.

Correctomundo.....the later models were lengthened (sp) to accomodate the AMC "inline" 6 cylinder engines as well as the V-8's.

    Thanks guys,

Sorry for the late replys. Business took me from wintery Minnesota to sunny Costa Rica, where the CJs and FJ-40s litter the streets like flies. I've already got inquiries into import licese and emissions regulations for bringing a few over.

Not sure if it will help you but some of the rock crawlers remove their inner fender wells to increase airflow.
