Toyota starter for 134 F-Head?

I've read that a 12V starter from a 64-83 Toyota Land Cruiser six will bolt right onto a 134 F head. Does anybody know anything about this swap?
    Thanks

I wouldn't think so as the Toyota 6 was a Japanese adaptation of the old Chev I-6 engines. If it would then the old Chev I6 would too. It "may" physically bolt up but the flywheel tooth count, starter drive depth, etc. I would think would all be different. Again, closer to Chev than Jeep. I've never tried it though so what do I know? Nickmil

Why the swap DJ? Just for the 12v or ? some other reason?

I need a starter. I do not have a starter for my project. All the F-Head starters I've found are outrageously expensive. The Land Cruiser goes for fifty bucks at Auto Zone.

Do the later F-head starters use the old-fashioned bendix spring? I thought that the early ones did. The bendix is the major liability on those old starters. Napa list a starter for a '71 134 that looks to have modern design, $65 + $7 core. My local Napa would let me order it and bring it back if it's not right.

Have you priced having the old one rebuildt locally? We have shops locally that do starters and alternators.

unfortunately, I do not have a starter to rebuild. There was none on the jeep when I bought it. We pushed it off to get it running, and other than not having a starter, it's a good runner.

Where are you? Somebody here is bound to have an extra one, or maybe e-bay, or another 4x4 board in your area.
