Does anyone know if a rear cross member from a '76 CJ will fit a '74 CJ ? I need one and want a factory piece. The '76 parts are just easier to find and seem real similar to the '74.

Nope, won't fit. May be the same overall width, but the frame is wider in the rear on a '76, and IIRC the cross-section is different.

Somebody out there makes the right new replacement.

<edit> It's the same crossmember as for earlier CJ-5s. Try posting in the V6/F4 forum is nobody tells you a source here.

How bad is your old one? Is it rusty or bent? Mine was pretty rusty and I was able to weld in new panels after cutting out the rust. It's only a little heavier gauge than the body. Since I was able to repair mine I deleted the links that I had, but there are new ones available, just a little harder to find.

I need the whole thing. PO removed it and relaced it with a 1.5 " angle iron so he could put a 3" X5" I beam across the rear for a bumper, yeeehaa!. Half inch plate bolted to the frame.
That price at Krage is O.K. with me Tigershark, thanks for the link.
