I looked at Faxon - 1962-1973 Jeep CJ, DJ, and Jeepster Parts Book Reprint

I'd be tempted to buy it, but it's hard to justify when I'd only use it for playing on the internet.

Maybe enough requests to Faxon would convince whoever the publisher is to bring it out on CD-ROM, like the '74-80 book. Here's the '74-80 book More Information for DETROIT IRON DCDC114 I'd ask "Detroit Iron" to put the earlier book out on CD-ROM. They have a phone number ... Got an old push button for my glove box from BC vintage Jeeps in Delta Colorado. Bob Donovan keep a lot of parts Jeeps (720) 469-1416. The early cj5's are different than the mid to later ones, but I think they all will work. The early cj's do not have an eschution(ring) around the botton

Anyone know where to find a clutch release seal boot for a 65 CJ5 with a T90 trans? Has been upgraded to a 225 V6. Kind of an obscure part to look for and I am having no luck with my normal "obscure" parts dealers. Appreciate any help on this...

Try Summit. They list a Crown Automotive clutch release arm boot.

If Crown makes it, try Quadratec. They are the the single largest retailer of Crown merchandise. If they don't have it. call the Crown warehouse in Canton MA.

I saw that online, but unfortunately none of them show applications prior to 72, and none of the boots show that they will work with a 225 V6. If they listed measurements, I could figure it out, but they dont do that either unfortunately.

I think your T-90 and conversion is probably a distinction without a difference. Anyway, if you continue to have trouble, possible you could move this to a thread in the regular forum.

With a T-90, there are two ways you can connect to a 225. You could have an aftermarket bellhousing adapter. In that case, the maker of the adapter would have used some available part to cover the hole. Or, you could have a plate adapter that uses the Buick 225 bell housing - two pieces. This is the same method Jeep used though 1970, though their adapter is different.

I would expect this (and likely the 1-piece bell too) to use the Buick factory part, which should be easy to obtain. At worst, you could ask at TA Performance about a boot for a BOP (Buick-Olds-Pontiac) bell housing.

Thank you. Its been a real cluster so to speak. The cj5 originally had the 4 cyl. But someone along the way put a 327 sbc in it (farm conversion). So it appears to have advanced adapters conversion on the transmission side, and the input shaft has been changed out. With a stock 226 V6 bellhousing it all works. So I will bet the skylark boot link above would work out for the frankenjeep.

I just wanted to close out this question with a final answer so its here in case anyone needs to know. The suggestion above DID work (thank you Tim) for the standard 225 bellhousing. The dust boot below for the 1970 skylark worked just fine. Appreciate all the help on here, and hope this answer helps someone else down the road.

Can someone please point me to a source for the 71 CJ5 factory parts catalog that would have the part numbers. Thanks in advance.

    Timgr,

"With a T-90, there are two ways you can connect to a 225."

There is a third way without an adapter.

    I have owned two Jeeps, one a 51 M38 I had 30 years ago, the other a 67 CJ5 I just bought with the 225 and a T-90 attached without an adaptor.

The M38 of course was a conversion from the L134 engine, and this CJ5 is a conversion from the F134, as it does not have the brakes which came with the V6 option package.

I did not do either of these conversions, but on both Jeeps a BOP bell housing was mated to the T-90 without an adaptor. I have not studied this CJ5 much yet, since I just got it home yesterday, but from what I recall of that M38 setup I believe you may have to drill and tap two holes. The long input shaft as used in the Willys trucks, and wagons has to be used if the T-90 came out of a Jeep with the four cylinder F134 or L134.

Most of the stock Dauntless CJ5s I have seen had the T-86 transmission mated at the factory to the bell housing with an a plate adaptor. I am certainly no expert, being rather new to the CJ5 world, but I did not know that any of the CJ5s with the V6 option came with the T-90.

My 1970 cj5 came with a single-shifter d18, but was missing the shift lever. Ive been looking everywhere to find one of these shift levers but came up short. Does anyone know who might sell one? Image for reference. I'd prefer to save the money and time which would go into converting it to a two-stick.

Edit: I was referred to Willys Works by mike from Kaiser Willys. Now I have another question though, is it possible to find the brass bushing which goes inside the shifter anywhere? Am I better off having one made at my local machine shop?

Post a WTB in the classified section. I’ll bet some junk is sitting around with a good shifter.

Does anyone happen to know the correct ARP bolt for the application of Buick V6 Dauntless clutch pressure plate to flywheel?

EDIT: ARP wrote and said to measure and replace, and I found that these work:
    130-2201

FYI ARP wrote me back and gave me the part number for the Flywheel to Crank bolts:
    240-2801

Anyone know of an oil pressure sending unit (for a gauge, not for a light) that has the right thread for the port in the block of a Dauntless above the oil pump?

This one is 1/8" NPT 27, which is too fine. I could make it work with an adapter but first I wanted to see if there's an off the shelf part that works.
