I'm currently running some 32x11.50x15" tires on my 1974 CJ-5. I get some tire rubbing going on against the inside of the tire and body. I would like to go with some 33x12.50x15 tires but the rubbing would be worse. I was wondering if anyone knew how many inches I would need on wheel spacers to clear the inside of the tire and body to prevent rubbing.
    thanks,
    Dave

I'll be honest, I'm not a real big fan of spacers.
However to answer your question a 1" -1 1/2" would be all you need.
Do you have enough room to keep the tires from munching the outer wheel well though?

I think longer bump stops would be a better fix myself. ;)

I hear ya. I get a good amount of rub on the YJ.
My rear axle bumpstops are long gone.

It really doesn't hurt the flex all that much Patrick.

If the rear axle stops short of the tires rubbing the rear fender edges, I'm losing some flex.... :D

    Only you buddy. R)

Get the rubber bumpstops for a YJ and then trim them to where it is just touching.

To be honest with ya, I didn't even think about wheel rubbing the outer wheel well. Okie, so I can see it's important to keep both in mind.
    thanks,
    Dave

Yup, I run 1 1/2" spacers and I rub the rear lower corner of the wheel opening..... No damage yet, but I did have to trim my flares so the tires wouldn't tear them off....

I dont think you would get any more rub now that I think about it.
It'll only stuff into the fender so far.

That's the problem.. It doesn't stuff "into" the fender. It hits the outer edge...

Depending On What Axle You Are Running The Model 20 Is Very Vulnerable To Bearing Failure When Running A Spacer

What about a little more lift?? I didn't see any mention of it but maybe a 1" body lift would help. Easy to install and cheap. No loss of articulation............It would get the body up and away from the tires.

Daystar 1" urethaine body mounts are just over 100 bucks.

I also would stay away from wheel spacers.
