Navy Jeeps?

I have decided when I do my rebuild of my CJ2A that it is going to be a Navy Jeep replica. Not exact, but something i can run to car shows and maybe some parades. In searching Google I have found Navy jeeps that have the MB grill and some that are a standard 2A grill, does anyone know if both were shipped? I also have found conflicting locations of where and how to number the hood etc...

Are there any good sites to look to for information on this, apparently there were not a lot of Navy Jeeps, But considering my grandfather that died recently was a Navy man and my G/f comes from a Navy family I think this is a good line to take.

 

The Navy and other armed forces did use the cj2a, cj3a, cj3b, and the cj5, just not a huge amount of them

 

I researched doing my MB as Navy and I found that the Navy repainted their jeeps and the frame and undercarraige is OD green with the bodies painted grey.

 

See this contradicts everything i found... what i read is that they were delivered OD green then the ENTIRE jeep shocks and all painted the slate blue-grey color

notice the differences in the stenciling and position, notice most are MB but the last looks more 2A and its supposed ot be an original

 

That last photo is an M38, isn't it? Military version of a CJ3A, that's what I've got spotted in the hills that I'm wanting to buy.
