I intend fitting a diesel engine into my 1978 CJ-5 during restoration.
I'd like a 4 speed gearbox but accept that they are going to be difficult to source and expensive so have decided to stick with the T150.
Next problem is most diesel engines I've considered have longer bellhousing than the Jeep item so the gearbox input shaft is too short.
Was there ever a version of the T150 made with a longer input shaft ?
I don't expect it to fit staight onto the diesel engine and know it will probably need altering / adapting / resplining. The current jeep T150 version, however, is just too short for say such modifications.

    Thanks.

The T-150 was used here in the USA as the standard CJ transmission for 5 years, '76-79. It's a Ford passenger car 3-speed, built under contract by Tremac in Mexico, and adapted to the Jeep application. I'd expect the input shaft length to be the same as other Ford transmission, about 8.5" IIRC. There may be some crossover to Ford car applications, but I have no data on that.

The trucks and wagons continued to use the Borg-Warner T-15 as the standard transmission until 1979. This transmission comes with a longer input shaft to span the longer firewall depth on these vehicles. The I6 and V8 input shafts are about 1" and 5" longer than the CJ T-15 shaft used from '72-75.
