Picked up a really decent '74 DJ frame this morning (thanx m38a1diesel!) and am curious what needs to be done to swap over my CJ stuff to it?

Anybody ever used a DJ frame for their CJ?

    From the looks of it:
Steering box mounting is different: can my CJ box be made to fit?
Outboard rear springs: nothing hard here, just swap mine into this frame
front tub mounts: not on this frame, but shouldn't be hard to make work

Anywhos, been searching the web for a decent DJ site, but have yet found nadda

Any and all info GREATLY appreciated!

There are a few postal Jeep sites (they are the majority of DJs out there AFAIK) but I'd have to search. The postals are still being used for rural routes, so there's a market for the parts. Sandhill Mike does the rural route thing - maybe he'll comment. Not much enthusiast action out there, or so it seems.

William not sure this'll help much, but I've got "some" experience w/ a CJ body on a DJ frame as I'm in the process of placing a CJ body on a CJ frame that was previously on a DJ (all pre '72). You're right on the money with respect to the body mounts being diffo and the outboarded springs. Yesterday I drilled new holes for the body mounts.

Hopefully Nickmil will chime in as he seems to know much about DJ stuff (& everything else!)

thanx fellas, all i have been able to find so far is either "for sale" ads or just parts on ebay.....no technical stuff what-so-ever

Your right though, the body mounts are a tad different, but i should be able to raid mine of the CJ frame and adapt them over without much trouble.

My main concern is the steering box mount.....the CJ bolts on via a bracket with the bolts running from top to bottom, where-as the DJ box mounting area seems to have the bolts going through the side of the box itself and through the frame

Nickmill and sandhill mike......some help? PLEASE??????

William there is a Postal Jeep group over at Yahoo. Dunno if anyone there can help you out much or not, but it's worth a shot.

The old postaljeep.com site and its forum was a great source of info, but it's now defunct. :(

BTW, the steering box on a DJ bolts on like this (this ***'y was robbed from your newly-acquired chassis R)):

    mornin Don ~

Them 1st 2 pix help alot! Thinking i can fab up a bracket that will "wrap" around the frame and mount the steering box to it, kinda like a "C" channel

    Shouldn't be too hard :)
