poly bushings & rear crossmember

    I'd use channel - gives a place for the body mounts to go, as well as the gas tank mounts.

    Stock '73 tank hangs from the frame, unless you replace it with a poly tank.

    Channel would be good though. You can also use premade hat channel from Raybucks, probably others. http://raybuck.com/

    Doesn't the skid plate bolt to the rear crossmember? Thought it did...maybe that's a difference then between 73 and the later '78-ish setup I used.

    hmmmm, you guys are probly right about the c-channel......my jeep didn't have a tank or skidplate when i got it.

    c-channel it is then.....better safe than sorry !

    Yes, but the skid plate is an option in the Intermediates - the tank has to stay put without the SP. IIRC (long ago!) the SP dodges around the tank bolts, but bolts for each go into the same surface. The front of the tank ties to the frame with brackets. Another '76-on change I suppose.
