Hey everyone, I was just wondering of some good places to look for an engine overhaul kit for a 304. Also if there is anywhere to find a hardtop for a '74 CJ-5. Any help would be appreciated

I don't have personal experience with them, but I've shopped a bit and like what this company has to offer for a rebuild kit http://www.fastengineparts.com/ it seems complete with good quality parts.

I've seen the same company on e-bay too.

Thanks for all the replys. That fast engine parts website looks pretty good. I will try to get some pics of the jeep up within the next few weeks.

Re the overhaul kit, the Autozone kits are said to contain good parts, at least for the V6 motors. Should be similar for the 304. You need to have your machine shop measure your block, rods and mains before you buy any kit though. Also, the shop may offer you a good deal on your parts if you have the machine work done there. What's the condition of your 304, and what had you planned to do to rebuild it?

    Welcome from Boston!

The 304 runs, but is very worn out. I dont know everything that will exactly need to be done. I know it will have to be bored out, and am not really sure what else. My father is a mechanic and will be doing the majority of the engine work himself, and i am just looking around for a good kit for him. Probably wont actually be doing anything with it for a while yet, so there is plenty of time to look around. It has been sitting for probably 8 years now, used to be daily driver. I do fire it up every summer, and everything still works.
