From reading on the forums, I suppose my carb is a Carter. 77 cj5 with 304. How do you tune it up?

    No, it's a Motorcraft 2100 or 2150. Only the 6 cylinder had a Carter.

Sorry to sound like a broken record, but you're asking a lot with that one question. You need the manual - that will give you the background info that you need, then you can ask more specific questions.

I'm sorry. Like I said I don't know much. I keep walking outside and wishing it would crank, not smoke, idle good, and someone would pull up and say, "Man that thing sounds good. I'll give you 2k for it!" (Not that I would sell it now. It ain't worth that anyway.) I need to order a manual I know. Thanks for your help so far though.

I think that the Motorcraft carb is the best carb AMC offered.

well I found you can get a rebuild kit for about $15. That ain't too shabby. I agree I really need a manual. I think there's some vaccuum lines missing and I don't know where they go to.

If you google "Motorcraft 2100 carburetor", there are alot of good hits that can help you. Also, Advance Auto Parts has a really good step-by-step rebuild guide. It's really easy.....good luck
