Hey I was hoping to rebuild the master cylinder on my 70-76 Willys CJ5, I have the kit and my tools but I am leery as I need to drive this everyday and dont want to tear it apart if I know its going to take more than a few hours.

If it takes too long I will wait until the weekend but I would sure like to have brake lights now. If anyone has done this and has the time to explain some of the finer points I am unaware of feel free to reply. I will be out back loosening and tightening things for a while until I get stuck.

I did not see this in the brake section of the FAQ.

    THanks, Big Willy

    :iagree:

By the time a MC needs a rebuild, it it more than likely that the bore is pitted enough to eat the new seals in short order. I'll never rebuild another brake component again, unless replacements are not available. YMMV. ;)

Ten four. Adding master cylinder to the list along with u-joints & fuel filter. Now if I knew what year to ask for. Ran out of gas today in almost the same spot my driveshaft went yesterday. Used a dime to remove filter, remove rust and prime. I was on my way to napa to pick up the u-joints. Tomorrow I am insuring my Bronco again so I can at least get my parts. I have come to terms with the fact that the demon I dug from its grave is not yet ready for public roads. #1: U-Joint #2: MS #3:wiring #4:beer holder. Figured out what kind of carb I have.
