missing crossmember???

Does anyone know about the crossmember that is in the picture on novak's site? http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/cj5_72-75_swap.htm

My cj doesn't have it, should I? It's supposedly a '72 but how do I really tell?

 

You looking at the crossmember in front of the engine? That's an older Jeep. A '72 will have a different front crossmember, about 10' wide, right behind the bumper and ahead of the grille.

Are the rails of your frame parallel, front to back, or do they widen at the rear?

 

Ok, with the 2 larger holes in it right? My motor idles kind of rough which I should probably try to work but the frame shakes in the front which I didn't know if I should beef it up more or not
