    Hey guys!

Was at the local farm and ranch supply store today, and found some Van Sickle tractor paint there. Sold by the quart and gallon (gallon runs about $25). All sorts of colors, but what I was really looking at was using either gloss or flat black from my frame. I know, I know...I've got plenty of things to worry about before the frame is painted, but I'm always looking to solve problems ahead of time. They also sold a urathane hardner (nasty stuff...has isocyonates) for about $12. I was thinking I could use some Ospho on the frame, and then paint it with this. Anyone ever use it? The price is definetly right, and I would think it would hold up pretty well. At that price I wouldn't feel bad about putting the stuff on pretty thick either.
Just curious if anyone else has ever used that brand, and how well it holds up to abuse.

They also sell bolts by the pound, but only grade 5. Grade 8 is individually priced. Still, not everything needs to be an 8, so it still might be a good place to get hardware.

Yeah. I have used this stuff and it is good for the price. I actually used the red primer on my JEEP when I painted it. You really have to work to scratch through the primer once it sets on something. I know a guy who primed a frame with it about 4 years ago and it is still in tip top shape and by no means a garage queen. I would recomend it for primer anyhow. Hope that helps.

I used the TSC Implement paint over a sand blasted frame. Turned out real good (brushed and rolled). I have hit it w/ a hammer, screwdriver, wrenches, you name it and its holding up well. Buy a couple of rattlecans in the same color and touch up as required.:v6:

You can use the catalysed paint with a brush or roller - the main problem with isocyanates is inhaling the overspray, or getting it in your eyes or on your skin. If you use gloves and goggles and mix small batches, you should be fine. Some people are hypersensitive to the overspray, and I expect they would be sensitive to contact too. Once the paint sets, it's no longer harmful.

My experience with the, I will call it QF&F paint(TSC now in my area) was great. I wire wheeled the frame for my 76 F-250 and applied that right the the bare albiet slightly rusty frame and it adhered admirably. It smoothed out nicely and looked great on a very pitted frame. It seemed to fill a lot of voids. It has been 8 years sice I finished the truck and the paint stil looks good. I also used it on my 68 frame. I had that one sand blasted and again applied it right to the bare metal. It has been languishing under a tarp for 4 years outside and still looks as good as the day I painted it. I will use it again in a heart beat. Price is definitely right

Back in the day when I was racing, I sprayed all of my cars with the implement paint. Use a good hardener and it looks great. I would use it to paint the jeep as well ;) :driving:

I painted my whole CJ with rustoleum gloss gray from Home Depot. $7.47 a quart IIRC. I painted my FC170 with Rustoleum Allis Chalmers orange. Brushed the FC and sprayed the CJ. Both came out great with a medium gloss. I'm not a very good painter so I didn't want to waste too much money on the paint. I love the stuff. Good luck...Gman
