I have a 72 CJ5 that has the typical rat's nest for wiring. I want to rewire the entire rig. Any sources for simple, easy, complete and inexpensive wiring harnesses? How about a good source for schematics or a wiring diagram? THANKS!

ezwiring.com is the best around. They're around $135, work great, and were very simple to install. I think the 12 cir. is plenty but they have a 21 cir. also For a good schematic, it has to come from the factory service manual.

I have found the haynes manual more useful than the service manual for my '72 when it comes to wiring. That reminds me that I need a new haynes manual since most of the pages in mine are getting grease stained and waterlogged.

Here is a link to a Technical service manual i just found last night when looking for info about a steering box. It is easier to just click, save link as, or, save target as, than loading it from the site each time you want to use it, plus that way if it gets taken down from teh interwebs you still have it.

I think John's point was that those are simple wiring diagrams that would serve as an example. If you want to fix the original harness, you need the '72 FSM. There's a copy online at http://www.c104.net/manual/Section_22.pdf but it's a slow link. The FSM pictures aren't the schematic that you might expect; instead they are line drawings of the harness in situ with the conductors and colors labeled.

If you buy an ez-wire harness or such, it will come with its own schematic and it will be quite different from the stock harness. Functionally equivalent though, for the most part.

<edit> Looks like the TrailForge link above is the same stuff as the C104.net link, but maybe a faster server. Both are likely copyright violations, so I'd suggest you download all of it while you can.
