Hi everyone. I am search of little detail parts to finish up my 79 CJ5 restoration. One part I see in pictures of AMC Jeep CJs that I don't have is the tall black horn button/cover that goes in the center of the steering wheel and has the American Motors logo and Jeep written on it. I take it this part is no longer made, because I have scoured the internet looking for it and all I can find are cheap plastic Mopar Jeep caps (that's what I currently have as a replacement). I'm sure someone parting out an AMC Jeep would have this but does anyone know where else to find this part? On that note, what about those cool retro square-pleated vinyl low-back seats I see in original sales brochures? Anyone make those? All I can find are the low-back replacement seats with no square pleats. I'm just trying to recreate the magic of an original and correct 70's American Motors CJ! Otherwise, I wouldn't be so picky about these little details. Thanks for any help. :)

You might be able to get the horn button from J&W in Antelope, CA.

To get the look of original buckets, I'd suggest you find the best pair of original seats you can and have them professionally recovered. Take the seats and your brochure pics to a good auto upholstery shop. Won't be cheap, but they should look like they're fresh from the factory.

I called J & W last week looking for one. I think they have one that is cracked, and one that just says AMC on it, but no Jeep. This is a tough part to find. I just went with a generic plastic cap for now, but i'm hoping to happen by one some day.

Oh, one more thing, I have on occasion seen the entire steering wheel/colum for sale for $100+ on Ebay with the cap on it, but never wanted to pay that amount. I'm thinking some day I might be forced to.
