Steering box ?

    Will a 78 j10 steeing box work on my 74 cj5 ? The j10 is 304 or 360 . my cj5 is a 304!

    I've messed with a few different steering boxes, I think if they have the same input shaft size it would work. Some Jeeps had a rag joint connection on the input shaft and some had a Ujoint. If the J donor is the same input shaft diameter it should work no problem.

    AFAIK all the Jeep power steering boxes are the same outside dimensions except for the J-20 boxes, and even the J-20 box will bolt up in place of the others. Check that the input shaft is the same diameter, spline count and indexing (I think it will be) and that the orientation and indexing of the pitman arm are the same (that too I think will be the same).
