thats ok, I'm not easily offended.....maybe I'll get adventurous and try 3000 rpm....if I ever get this ignition, or carb, or fuel, or valve problem figured out....

Easy info to come by: Any manual or site listing specs of the f head show max hp @ 4K (I've never found a redline however). (Nice dyno torque curve on the CJ3B page, btw.)

Info that's a bit harder to come by: My Mil dash panel states max road speed of 60mph. If you do the calc's for 5.38 gears and a guestimated rolling diameter of a 7.00x16 tire ... 4K rpm is about 60mph, give or take a couple hundred rpms or a couple mphs.

    UPDATE:
Ok, so I put new points in, turns out the old ones were worse off than I thought....I had to re fabricate the new point bracket, (as did who ever put the last set in), but in they went. Gapped to .020".......Jeep wouldn't start......

I had read that you have to adjust timing when you change points, but I had no timing light.....This is where I give a huge thanks to Moses Ludel and the Jeep Owners Bible. His static timing technique worked great, the jeep runs much smoother now....still a little hiccup at low idle, but none of the rough shaky stuff...(I guess the carb is the next suspect).....The jeep has gained some more pep as well.....Thanks to everyone that helped me out....I guess I'll go run it at 3000 rpm now, and be nervous the whole time.....
    Thanks again.
