Hey all, I have been asked to provide my Jeep for a 100 year celebration at my son's school, and was also tasked with coming up with some form of signage to put on her that has some fun, kid friendly, jeep facts.

I plan on including the usual naming facts (GP) and Eugene stuff, but was trying to find anything else that may be interesting.

    Thanks,

    Jason

Not sure what constitutes a "Fun" Jeep fact for a kid. For me most of the fun stuff would probably go right over their heads. R)

Maybe a picture of a GPA and something like "Jeeps can swim"?

Still not understanding what you're saying here?

If you can reply to this forum you can access that page (or should be able to based on permissions). Since this thread is in that forum that the link points to.

I need the error message the website gives you to sort this out. :)

I think you need a theme, like "WAR, WORK, PLAY." Then you could show celebrities, TV programs and movies connected to the Jeep. For example, pictures from "Rat Patrol" would link the war origins of the Jeep to a topic some kids will find interesting. Then you could link work to, say, NellyBelle or President Reagan's ranch Jeeps. For play, you could show some celebrities that own Jeeps, for example, Ahhnold owns Hummers. There must be modern examples that kids will be interested in...

I click on it and I get a login page that says I'm not logged in or don't have sufficient privilege to view the page. I'm guessing that whoever made the link (wink wink) had privileges that I can't duplicate. Someone with privilege clicking on that link likely does not see the problem.

Also, it would be interesting to point out that the Jeep was invented by Bantam to replace the horse in warfare, for the most part. Recall that Colonel Potter of M*A*S*H was a cavalry soldier in WWI, before the Jeep took that role. The troops had (primitive, by WWII standards) trucks and motorcycles in WWI, but they still used horses.

I'd find jeeps doing some cool stuff and print picts. Fun facts, things like they used them on farms and show all the farm impliments they used. I assume you will take your 82 cj5. SHwo them how the windshield folds down. That is always cool.

Here is a link for some stuff

I just learned there was a CJ1 prototype built in 1944. OK now I've lost almost 1/2 hour looking at the jeep stuff on that website. But I'm jeep smarter because if it.

Therein lies my confusion. It points to the forum that this thread is in!

You're actively participating in this thread so you obviously CAN access it. I don't know.

Really I should just delete the post since I moved the thread here.

Thanks Guys, just what I needed to get inspired! I like the War, Work, Play Ideas.... Also dropping the windshield, I think ppl would really dig seeing the CJ with it down.

If any of the North Atlanta Jeepers are interested, this is for a 100 year celebration of Kennesaw, GA. So far only 4 old vehicles on the books to attend, including my 82.

I think it would be cool to show some unusual uses for Jeeps: posters of Jeeps plowing fields, using trenchers, fire service, etc.

If someone local has a rolling chassis restoration project that would be cool, too. Kids could see how the engine, tranny, xfer case, and driveline all work together.

A rolling chassis would be too cool. No tub but everything else. Wayyyy cool for the kiddies.
