are 55-71 cj5 frames interchangeable

    hello.yes i'm a newbie and i've searched for the answer but unable to find it. my buddy donated a 1968 cj5 to me and i live in wisconsin so it needs a frame and body. i'm very excited to finally own a jeep and want to start the retore asap. thanks in advance for your patience with me being a newbie !!

    Yes, engine mounts are different though for the different engines.

    Rear fuel tank area on '70 and '71 models, too.

    Battery tray moved from pass frame rail to firewall.

    Have seen some '55 and '56 models with reverse shackle, might need to swap springs, don't know for sure.

    All of which are minor details and easily dealt with vs. changing engine mounts IMO. YMMV. :beer:
