    Hello,
I have a 1979 Jeep CJ 7 with a 258. It has a SR4 trans can I change it with a T-4 trans? Do you know what trans is better than the other?
    Thanks,
    Don

Are you sure it's a SR-4? The SR-4 was not offered in 1979.

I don't think there's much difference between the SR-4 and T-4 transmissions. If you really have a SR-4, I would suggest looking for a T-176 to replace it with. The SR-4 is not very strong, and a T-176 would be a good upgrade.

Depending on what you want to do with your Jeep would determine what transmission to swap in place of the SR4. Take a look at this http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/sr4.htm before you make a decision. Hope it helps.
