Cj5/dauntless odd firing v6 problems

has anyone ever messed with this motor? i recently have a had problem with not getting any spark, as the motor would try to start but wouldn't.. i opened my hood to find that all my wires around my coil were fried, so after replacing all of them, the coil, distributor caps and points (which were fried) still nothing. right before i had this issue, my jeep wasn't wanting to turn off when i turned the key, so ended up having to just stall it that night when i parked it... and my bad if i'm not providing enough information.. help.. anyone? i go to start the motor, and it starts to turn over, but sound like a motor out of gas(which it has, i checked)...
